Genome-Wide Identification of Long Non-Coding RNAs in Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.)) Genotype Subjected to Drought Stress

Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) is affected by drought stress, affecting crop productivity and survival. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are reported to play a vital role in the response stress. LncRNAs represent major part of non-protein coding present prevalently. These involved various biological processes, which may functionally act as RNA rather than getting transcribed protein. We targeted genome-wide identification lncRNAs pearl from root leaf tissues subjected A total 879 were identified, out 209 (leaf control, control), 198 treated, treated), 115 treated) 194 (root differentially expressed. Two found potential target mimics three miRNAs miRBase database. Gene ontology study revealed that drought-responsive processes like ‘metabolic process’ ‘cellular process’, molecular functions ‘binding’ ‘catalytic activities’ cellular components ‘cell’, ‘cell part’ ‘membrane part’. LncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network shows it plays stress-responsive mechanism through their activities hormone signal transduction, auxin transcription factor activity. Only four get match with plant lncRNA database CANTATAdb, its poorly conserved nature among species. This information has been cataloged long (PMDlncRDB). The discovered can be used improvement important traits, well CISPR-Cas technology, editing ncRNAs plants for trait improvement. Such will increase our understanding expression behavior lncRNAs, underlying mechanisms under stress millet.
